The List #4: Top Ten SNL Skits

SNL has definitely been a rollercoaster ride of good and bad times, no? There are skits (Brian Fellow's Safari Planet, Opera Man) and players (Dana Carvey) that always make me chuckle; those that perplex me as to why they are funny (Sprockets/Kevin Nealon in general); even some that piss me off b/c they are SO stupid (Deep Thoughts/Melanie Hutsell).

This list was tough b/c there are perennial favorites that are always at the very least humorous and worth a look-up on YouTube, like Debbie Downer. There are classics like the Coneheads that I will always consider comedic genius. Those are awesome, but for this list I'm talking about specific skits that had me really laughing out loud. So no saying "Wayne's World!" I mean, WHICH Wayne's World? Be more constructive with your feedback (Steeeeeeeve)...

BTW can I quickly make an SNL Dream Team? My top ten SNLers, all doing one super-stupendous show: Mike Meyers, Adam Sandler, Dan Akroyd, Steve Martin, Jane Curtin, Amy Poehler, Will Ferrell, Gilda Radnor, Bill Murray, Andy Sandberg (or Tracy Morgan or Chris Parnell. And if you yell about the indecisiveness shhhhhhh!)

Dream Team Host? choice #1- Justin Timberlake. I KNOW, I KNOW but the couple he was on were so freakin good. So WAH to you! Choice #2- Tom Hanks. Choice #3- Natalie Portman

Alright, drumroll please:

1 - Dick in a Box - With all the "classic" skits out there, I know this will get backlash, but whatever. It's definitely the hardest I have ever laughed at ANYthing on TV.

2 - Celebrity Jeopardy featuring "Anal Bum Cover"

3 - Steve Martin's "King Tut"

4 - More Cowbell! Blue Oyster Cult skit with Christopher Walken

5 - Chris Farley's Matt Foley skit - I love that Christina Applegate is doing everything she can not to burst out laughing

6 - Adam Sandler's Hanukah Song

7 - Oops I Crapped My Pants commercial

8 - Natalie Portman Digital Shorts gangsta rap

9 - Drunk Girl talking about Spring Break (different Drunk Girl link because we can't find Spring Break!)

10 - Michael Vick "Really"

So that's my list. I feel so naked. HOWEVER, I admit that while reading the (I predict thoroughly obnoxious) responses to this list I will undoubtedly curse a lot and say things like, "Crap! I forgot that one!" So I'm pouring out a mental 40 for those skits that I have mistakenly overlooked and didn't make my list. This one’s for my homies.

OK, let the tirade begin.

OK, first off I think I have to APOLOGIZE for the Cheekschick's list, Dick in a Box #1!?!?!? I'm gonna go get all of the food and drinks from her area and have them checked for CRAZY!! ;) Maybe it's jsut b/c she's too young to know some of the classics, but here's a MUCH more acceptable Top 10 SNL skits of ALL TIME!!!

10. Blue Oyster Cult Cowbell - Walken and Ferrell made this one of the greats!

9. Barbara Walters - Gilda hit this on eout of the park!! Hewwo I'm Baba Wawa, CLASSIC!!

8. Wild and Crazy Guys - Akroyd and Martin doing swinger playboys from some European country. This made people ache and cry from laughter.

7. Caveman Lawyer - Phil Hartman was one of the best and had so many to choose from, but I loved the caveman.

6. Nick Winters, Lounge Singer - Bill Murray made lounge singers everywhere the butt of jokes forever with this one! STARRRRRR WARRRRRSSSSSS, nothing but STARRRR WARRSSSS

5. Matt Foley - Not only was Applegate doing all she could to keep from laughing, EVERYONE in that skit had to hold in the laughter.

4. Celbrity Jeopardy - I don't know who made this better, Ferrell doing Trebek or Hammond doing Connery.

3. Bad Christmas toys for kids - Akroyd was a pisser, the funniest one was "A bag of broken Glass"

2. Mr Robinson - Eddie Murphy was insanely funny in this one...

1. Chippendales Tryouts - Swayze vs. Farley. I dare anyone, ANYONE to watch this skit and NOT laugh, it is physically impossible. I watched this one once and it was like the 173rd time I had seen it, and (ok I was drinking a little!) I literally peed myself, I had to yell to my wife through the laughing to turn the channel, I couldn't take anymore. Hands down THE SINGLE FUNNIEST THING EVER SHOWN ON SNL!!!

Oh, and as for best hosts of all time, again, I apologize for cheekschick suggestion of Justin Timberlake, he wasn't bad, but he'd rank about 159th on my list....the top host of all time is SO easy......Alec Baldwin!

AGAIN Da Pope can't follow simple rules. For 80's teen comedies, he only picked ONE semi-teen comedy. And now for this he speaks of skits in generalities.

Wild and Crazy Guys- which one?

Barbara Walters? - which time?

I am boycotting Da Pope's blog comments until he plays the game like the rest of us. I hope you will all follow suit!

CheeksChick is a wee bit loony today, Wild and Crazy Guys was a skit, so was Barbara Walters.

Sure, they were recurring skits, but so is Matt Foley, the motvational speaker. So are Celebrity Jeopardy and Drunk Girl..and maybe you picked one out of the series of these skits, but same difference is Da Pope's vote!!

So I am offically girlcotting all Cheekschicks comments until she unboycotts all my of mine!!!

Great topic! I love every skit mentioned so far...but most of mine are old school!

1.Massive Headwound Harry (the dog eats his brains when he lays on the couch)
2.Bad Idea Jeans (normally I wear protection...but when am I going to make it back to Haiti)
3.Dan Akroyd Xmas Toys (featuring the Bag O Glass and the plastic bag to go over the kids head)
4.Super Hero Party (this was an OLD one where John Belushi was the hulk and Garrett Morris was Antman...he could shrink himself down to the size of regular ant but retain his human strength)
5.Digital Short where they pick guys that look like each other on their lunch break...it ends with them having to decide to shoot Samberg or Horiatio Sanz.
6.The Chris Farley Show (Remember that time when...)
7.Anal Bum Celebrity Jeopardy
8.Chris Farley and Patrick Swayze Chipendales
9.Chevy Chase as President Ford before a speech (Advisor: "Sir, the poles show you have a low approval rating and I think we should start with a joke about the poles". Ford: "There is no need to get ethnic")
10.Mr. Short Term Memory where he visits his friend in the hospital...Tom Hanks can’t remember things for more than like 10 seconds

There are so farking many good skits that I don’t even remember. Riddle me this, Batman: WHY the hell doesn’t NBC have a site where you can buy(or subscribe to) every skit ever on SNL? Hopefully the new HULU site might be that.
